Our mechanical specialists work on diesel engines and generators — service, repair, rebuild and re-power — on power and sail alike. Alongside the engine itself we repair and install refrigeration, air conditioning and heating systems, fuel systems, and all manner of plumbing, pumps, water makers and head systems.
The work happens in our own yard on Farwell Drive in Rockland, which matters more than it sounds. When the mechanic, the electrician and the painter all work for the same yard, the engine job gets scheduled around the rest of the boat's list rather than against it, and nobody is waiting on a subcontractor's calendar.

The mechanical side of laying a boat up is where most winter damage is either prevented or caused. Engines and generators are winterized, cooling and fuel systems treated, and the systems that freeze are dealt with before the cold arrives rather than after.
The same crew brings the boat back in the spring, so nothing gets rediscovered on launch day. Every boat is inspected before it goes back in the water to confirm the work on its list was actually done.

Yes. The yard services powerboats and sailing yachts, and the mechanical crew works on both.
Both. We service, repair, rebuild and re-power diesel engines and generators.
No. We work on boats that store with us and on boats that come in for a specific job. We also run our own hydraulic trailer, so if the boat needs collecting from a mooring or another yard we can bring it here ourselves.
Most of it. The same yard handles electronics, fiberglass, carpentry, rigging, paint and canvas, so a mechanical job can be combined with the rest of the boat's list in one haul-out rather than several.
We are on Farwell Drive in Rockland and work throughout midcoast Maine, including Rockport, Camden, Thomaston, Owls Head and the surrounding harbors.
